Resource: An extraordinarily wonderful site bursting with the seeds of creativity to inspire young writers into writing and into an appreciation of art. This site teaches so many skills on a subtle level, such as sequencing, attention to detail, planning a story line etc, as well as exposing writers to various types of art. Register as a student, child under 13 or a teacher, then choose some artwork from the thousands of pieces available, and begin writing your story to accompany the illustrations. This is a 5 star site!

Resource: Nanowrimo and The Young Writers Program are hosted by the "tiny but mighty" non-profit called the Office of Letters and Light. Every November, thousands of people around the globe commit themselves to writing a novel in a month. Download the comprehensive workbook here and use it through the year to hone your creative writing skills. Then join fellow Wrimos in the writing frenzy in November. The best thing about this resource is that everyone can do it - preschoolers can commit to writing 25 words and mums and dads can commit to a full novel in the adult section of the program, so it becomes a family affair to remember. You set your own word count, so there is no external pressure or expectations.
